Setting up your firstgiving page is fast and easy! Doing this will allow you to collect pledges for the walkathon.

Just follow these simple steps and you will be on your way to collecting funds!

  1. Click on this link www.firstgiving.com/adoptpetshelter

  2. Click on the Get Started link.

  3. Select ADOPT 17th Annual “Makin’ Strides for Strays” Walkathon

  4. Enter your email address. If you don’t already have an account, leave the radio button set to I`m new to this site. If you already have an account, select the I have an account... radio button and enter your password. Then click continue > .

    If you’re creating a new account, go to Step 5, otherwise, skip to Step 6.

  5. New users will be asked to fill in their account information. Fill in the form and click continue >.

    The system will default to using the first and last name you entered in the registration form. You will be notified whether this name is availble for use. You can choose to change the name at this point. Once you have your page name, click create your page >.

  6. At this point you choose if you are part of a team or raising funds as an individual. In this example we are going to raise funds as an individual. Click No thanks. Skip this >>.

  7. You’ll receive a confirmation that your fundraising page has been created. Click on the edit your page > button.

  8. Now is when you get to show your creativity!

    1. Enter the title of your page!

    2. Set your goal, and try to meet it, it would be great if you even exceed it, if you are unable to meet your goal we appreciate your time and effort.

    3. In this part you can put whatever you would like, you can put about yourself and your pet, why you are walking, what you like about A.D.O.P.T. or anything you would like to share with the people you send your page to asking them to donate.

    4. Enter a picture, or use a image offered by firstgiving.

    5. If you would like to caption your image please enter it here.

  9. In this section, choose which elements you want to display and enter any money you have collected offline to move your fundraising progress bar along.

  10. Don’t forgot to add a special thank you in your donation confirmation that will be sent to anyone who makes a pledge to you for the walk! Then click on save and continue >.

  11. That’s it. You now have a page you can start emailing out to your friends, family, and co-workers. Firstgiving gives you a link to your page and you can also use their emailing feature.
