CASH FOR CRITTERS   Printer Cartridge Recycling Program   You are probably well aware of A.D.O.P.T.’s current, aluminum can recycling program. This program generates an income stream of more than $4,000 annually. While we continue to seek your support for this ongoing fundraiser, we are expanding our recycling efforts to include the recycling of empty ink jet and laser printer cartridges. Like the aluminum can recycling program, the recycling of cartridges helps raise funds for our animals and helps the environment too!!!   This is a very easy program; it is self-sustaining, and will grow as participation grows! And of course, everyone can participate because nearly everyone has a printer, fax, and / or copier, these days. Rather than throw out your empty cartridges, simply save them for us, and drop them off at the shelter on your next visit (Also, from June through October, we will accept them at A.D.O.P.T.’s table at The Farmers’ Market.) A.D.O.P.T. receives up to $4.00 per cartridge that is turned in!!!   The key to the success of this program is “in the numbers.” The more people we can bring on board, the more money we can make for our animals!! If you have a business, or work in an office that uses plenty of cartridges, you can really help us get this program off the ground and make it a success. If you’d like we will provide the empty, postage-prepaid collection boxes for your ink jet cartridges (each box holds up 18-20 cartridges). You just fill the box with empty cartridges, include the form provided to ensure payment to A.D.O.P.T., and pop it in the mail. For laser cartridges, we ask that you provide the box and we will provide the UPS shipping form as well as form to be included to ensure payment to A.D.O.P.T. Alternatively, you can collect all your cartridges and drop them off at the shelter at your convenience.   A few pointers: --Not all ink jet cartridges are accepted. Generally speaking, “recyclable” cartridges have some type of copper strip or electronic circuitry visible on the cartridges. In addition, if the cartridge is white or gray, it is generally not recyclable. No Epson cartridges are accepted. --Not all laser cartridges are accepted. Only those that bear the original manufacturer’s label and those that do not have a recycled label on them can be accepted. --If you are not sure if your cartridges are recyclable, you can visit www.CKArecycleaid.com, the website of the program sponsor.
