NEWS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ASSEMBLE YOUR CANINE CREW FOR A.D.O.P.T.’s 17TH ANNUAL MAKIN’ STRIDES FOR STRAYS WALK-A-THON
NAPERVILLE, Ill., March 22, 2010 — Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment is preparing for its 17th Annual Makin’ Strides for Strays 5K Walk-A-Thon that is being held on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at Naperville’s Fifth Avenue Station, 200 East Fifth Avenue, Naperville, IL.
Makin’ Strides for Strays is the pet shelter’s largest fundraiser of the year and had over 700 participants and 400 canines attend last year. Anyone is able to participate with or without a canine companion. There is no registration fee but participants are asked to obtain pledges per-kilometer or set donation. Prizes will be awarded at specific monetary benchmarks.
Registration for the event will begin at 7:30 a.m. After a “Blessing of the Animals” the walk will commence with Mayor Pardel leading participants along the designated 5K route. After the walk, participants will celebrate with refreshments, vendors, and canine competitions.
If your organization is looking to give back to the community and support animal welfare take advantage of this opportunity.
“The most rewarding aspect of the walk is the sight of hundreds and hundreds of dogs walking together with their humans in celebration of the human-animal bond as well as to raise funds to care for the many animals who enter our programs every year. About a dozen of our current canine residents will join us in the walk,” said A.D.O.P.T. President Sandy Boston.
