Membership

Until every pet has a home... please join us in saving lives, one animal at a time.

As a fellow animal lover, you are being invited to join our family and to stand with us this year as we strive to make a difference in the lives of the many animals who need our help. We expect that this year, like last, will be quite challenging given the economic climate and its impact on animals in need. In order to thrive this year, we must continue to work to streamline our operations and contain costs, while trying to expand our animal care and adoption programs, lifesaving spay/neuter initiatives, and our commitment to those animals with special needs.

Rest assured, your support of our organization and its mission is critical to our success. Please consider joining us today, and helping us to help the countless voiceless creatures who come to our doors by becoming a 2011 member of our organization.

Our members are the backbone of our organization, a group on whom we can call to help support those values that make A.D.O.P.T. unique. As you know, we often accept into our programs many dogs and cats who would be considered unadoptable by most organizations...like Violet, a sweet little pug with chronic liver issues who has been with us for over six months. While Violet is a delight to have at our shelter, she’d prefer a family of her own. Is yours perhaps that family?

Vaughn
A Senior Resident

Unlike many shelters, we accept into our programs many older animals like Vaughn, a handsome senior who warmed our hearts during his temporary stay at our shelter. Or Bubba, a twelve-year-old blind Poodle mix who was surrendered to a local animal control because his elderly owner could no longer care for him. We strive to provide the best care possible for all animals who come through our doors, and seek to place them into forever homes that will allow them to thrive for the rest of their lives.

Over the last year, your support has allowed us to effectively expand and improve many of our programs. For example, over the last year we expanded our low-cost spay/neuter services offered to other area rescues. In addition, we launched a low-cost spay/neuter program for dogs and cats of low-income families. We are proud to be the first such facility in the western suburbs, and one of only a handful of such operations in Chicagoland. We expect this program to continue to indirectly save thousands of lives every year.

In Search of a Home

We started off the new year by officially bringing on board the Blessed Bonds temporary foster care program. With so many people experiencing personal crises such as illness, unemployment, or foreclosure, such foster care for companion animals is expected to prevent hundreds of animals from entering the animal welfare system every year.

These are just a few of the many exciting ways we are expanding our operations and are striving to extend our reach beyond the world of A.D.O.P.T. We need your help and support to keep the momentum going! I am asking you to become a member of A.D.O.P.T. and join our other supporters and animal lovers in rescuing, caring for, and placing into permanent loving homes as many animals as possible.

This year’s Membership Program offers exciting options for individuals and families, with new incentives sure to make you want to be a proud supporter of our outstanding organization!

Our Individual and Family Memberships include our 2011 A.D.O.P.T. Member t-shirt (coupon for redemption of 1 t-shirt for an Individual; up to 4 t-shirts for a Family Membership), a “pet alert” window decal, and our monthly e-newsletter (email address required). Our Family Membership also includes a 10% discount off registration/ticket price for all events having a participation fee, including but not limited to day camps, wine tastings, and our breakfasts with the Easter Bunny in April, and with Santa & His Reindogs in December.

For those who wish to further enhance their commitment to A.D.O.P.T.’s animals, we offer the Shelter Friend option. The Shelter Friend receives the same incentives as does the Family Membership, plus 20% off all A.D.O.P.T. merchandise.

Your membership is vital to our ability to implement and expand programs such as our on-site spay/neuter clinic, to care for special-needs animals, and to increase our overall intake and adoption initiatives.

Today, like never before, we have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of more animals in more far-reaching and long-lasting ways. The animals need our help! We are counting on you to join us in supporting them!

If you are interested in being an active donor with a more involved role in the shelter, consider becoming a member of A.D.O.P.T. by using the PayPal online membership form or by filling out the Membership Application and mailing it in to the shelter.

With your annual membership donation, you’ll be invited to attend A.D.O.P.T.’s monthly membership meetings held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:30 p.m.  The meeting is currently held at the Country Inns & Suites on 1837 Centre Point Circle in Naperville, IL.

At the meetings, the Board of Directors and its’ members review and discuss the current happenings at the shelter. After attending six membership meetings, members are then granted voting privileges and given the opportunity to run for the Board.

Members also receive a copy of our annual newsletter.
