Animals Deserving Of Proper Treatment
A.D.O.P.T. Pet Shelter is located in Naperville, IL. We are a private, "no-kill", non-profit organization that provides temporary shelter and care to dogs and cats in search of their forever home. Finding homes for our voiceless animals is a priority for us.

Recently, A.D.O.P.T. accepted eight heartworm-positive dogs into our adoption program. We were aware that five of these pups were afflicted with heartworms but felt they deserve rescue, treatment & aftercare, and loving forever homes. We were not expecting three additional newcomers to also test heartworm positive but that did not deter us from saving their lives.
Many shelters do not accept dogs who test positive for heartworm; others will euthanize dogs who test positive, due to the high cost of treatment and the length of time for recovery/aftercare. After treatment and recovery, the vast majority of dogs having heartworms experience complete recovery and go on to live normal healthy lives.
We anticipate the total cost of care for these eight dogs to be nearly $2,000, while the love, joy, and companionship that they will give their forever families will be priceless!
Won’t you help us raise funds for the treatment and care of these pups by donating today?
Cat of the week: Heidi
Heidi had 3 kittens - All found their forever homes and NOW it is Heidi's turn. She is affectionate and social and in her own way loves to hang around people. She needs time to warm up to you. Being very talkative, this sweet lady will purr her way into your heart.

Dog of the Week: Bella
Bella is a sweet girl who loves to go for walks and play ball. She is a young high energy gal. When Bella arrived at A.D.O.P.T. we found that she has some resource guarding concerns. We have been working with her daily and she has improved. She is very possessive of her bed, toys and food and does not like to share. She would do best as an only child… both human and canine. Bella is looking for a forever home who can provide her a lifetime of love, understanding, companionship and special handling.
