Heartworm

Recently, A.D.O.P.T. accepted eight heartworm-positive dogs into our adoption program.  We were aware that five of these pups were afflicted with heartworms but felt they deserve rescue, treatment & aftercare, and loving forever homes.  We were not expecting three additional newcomers to also test heartworm positive but that did not deter us from saving their lives.

Many shelters do not accept dogs who test positive for heartworm; others will euthanize dogs who test positive, due to the high cost of treatment and the length of time for recovery/aftercare.  After treatment and recovery, the vast majority of dogs having  heartworms experience complete recovery and go on to live normal healthy lives.

We anticipate the total cost of care for these eight dogs to be nearly $2,000, while the love, joy, and companionship that they will give their forever families will be priceless!

Won’t you help us raise funds for the treatment and care of these pups by donating today?
